Like many Americans I feel discouraged and hopeless when I look at the American political system. I know how it’s supposed to work. I understand and value the principles under which our country was founded. Yet I look at the disparity between the reality and the hope I have and I often discard the hope, overwhelmed by the reality and inevitability of the status quo.
This year, however, a candidate has revived that hope. I really appreciate the sincerity and message of Ron Paul. His main points have to do with fiscal responsibility. Did you know the government is in debt 30,000 for every man, woman and child. Who’s going to pay that debt? At this rate with interest we’re all in a lot of trouble (especially us 20 somethings). Paul is in favor of shrinking the government back to constitutional levels (and I mean really shrinking). He combines what I see as responsible international relations coming from the Democrats, and responsible ethical Domestic policy from the Republicans, as well as adding some responsible fiscal knowledge and commitment.
I don’t think we’ve had a candidate this revolutionary since Robert Kennedy, or one so full of integrity since Carter. He’s motivated teh youth vote for the first time since the 60’s. Hopefully the media will give him a honest shot.

my husband, along with some help from friends we hired, put up our new fence, put in sod in the front yard, hung shutters and painted the eves of the house. we have some curb appeal going on now, as long as you don’t look at the pile of debris in the driveway. it feels like there are neverending projects but really, we are pretty close to finishing all the major projects we are aiming for.
we also have a close to completion baby room, to go with our close to completion baby. people ask all the time if i’m anxious to get the baby out. really, i’m content to keep him or her inside as long as needed. my story may change in a few weeks, especially if night time bathroom trips become any more frequent. people also ask if we are having twins. i don’t think i look that huge, just nine months pregnant. when one of my patients asked this the other night and i said no, just one, she (a non native English speaker) responded with, “well, maybe just a big baby, because you are a strong woman, yes.” uh, thanks.

i’m watching matt fold laundry, something I really appreciate him doing. it is entertaining however to see him stare at a piece of my clothing to try to figure out how to fold it. ‘my clothing is just one solid piece of fabric; what am i supposed to do with that?’ says he in reference to pullover shawl.
