books

matt and i have been purging belongings lately, and one thing we’ve tried to cut down on is books. matt is more attached than i to books but has been really good about getting rid of ones we’ve already read or won’t read. we took a couple bags of books to powells the other day and walked away with more than $120 in credit. i also found an old powells card that had $41 from another time we had sold books. i found in my chinook book a coupon for free shipping from powells so now we can use the credit online. this is nice because on days like today when i don’t have much energy, it feels good to accomplish something. today i was able to buy a book i really wanted but wasn’t ready to spend the money for.

it may seem counterproductive to buy more books when we are supposedly purging. but if we replace several bags of books for one, we’ve still made progress.

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.

I’ve heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.

baby continues healthy. we heard the strong heartbeat again and all my blood tests look good. i’ve lost about ten pounds and can’t tolerate many foods but have been trying to eat high quality foods when i do it. the midwives said it is no problem anyways, as baby gets all the best of what i eat and is ‘eating’ from my stores.

we are hopeful to finish several projects before the baby is born, most especially selling the house. we have plans that seem good but no idea what the future will bring.

Got to see a good friend get married this weekend.  His was a fun wedding and what struck me was the comfort of the lasting friendship of marriage.  I saw many friends I haven’t seen in awhile and won’t see for awhile yet, many who were married and seemed to really enjoy the seasoned intimacy of their spouses.
Best Friend
As we’ve been struggling a lot lately with the circumstances of life I think I’ve come to hope against hope that things will one day improve and we’ll get to enjoy those happy moments again.  Our love for each other is such a blessing from the Lord, yet sometimes the path we walk on seems so lonely and void.  It sure makes it hard to spend a weekend apart.  Tori is such a wonderful companion, lover and friend.
When we see the good Lord come through I’m sure this will seem a seasoned memoric lesson, but for now it seems increasingly difficult and I’m truly reminded of how desperate and weak I am.  Desperate we ask Jesus to be our Rock.  And we will wait for Him.
